A day in the life...
Sacred Heart Academy operates
under a rotating block schedule, with four 80-minute classes
each day. Since classes meet every other day, "the
block" affords each student the opportunity to do a thorough
job on her homework and have extra time for review between
class meetings. Longer class periods allow teachers to cover
more information, match teaching styles to learning styles,
and spend time addressing problem areas.
Students begin each day in
homeroom at 8:00am. After first period, students have
a 15-minute break where they can purchase a mid-morning
snack, visit the school store, or take time to prepare
for their upcoming classes. Lunch is 25-minutes long.
The final bell rings at 2:10pm to signal the end of classes.
Teachers are available for
extra help every day after school. In addition, the
Mary and James Dimeo Library and computer labs are open
until 4:00pm.
After the bell...
Outside of the classroom,
Sacred Heart Academy students
participate in over 35 clubs and organizations, compete in 12 sports,
stage drama and musical productions, edit three
publications, and volunteer their time and talents for a
variety of service activities.
