Who We Are:
The National Honor Society is an organization open to
juniors and seniors who display scholarship, leadership,
character, and service. “The purpose of this organization
shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate
a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to
develop character in the students of secondary schools.”

What We Do:
The National Honor Society is involved in many different
projects that benefit the school and the wider community. We
are also planning new projects to become more involved in
the Sacred Heart community.
Tutoring:
NHS members are available for tutoring (link to tutoring
schedule) for any student who needs help in a particular
subject. These tutors are available at all studies in the
library. Any student who would like a tutor may either ask
the librarians for the name of a tutor in their study and in
their subject or can contact a tutor either through email or
by talking to them during homeroom to arrange a time for
tutoring.
Penny Wars:
Each year in January, the National Honor Society sponsors
Penny Wars. Through the use of loose change, the students in
each class compete against one another to raise the most
money. Pennies count as one “point” toward the class’s
total, while any other money (nickels, dimes, quarters) is
subtracted from the class’s total according to its value
(ex: a nickel would subtract 5 “points” from a class’s
total). The money is then donated to a worthy cause.
After-school debates:
This is a new program that NHS hopes to have up and running
soon. Once a week or once every other week, students would
be able to come and participate in a debate about a
pre-determined topic. All students are welcome to come and
participate or come and watch.
